Optimise your day! Feedback tells us that signing up to 4 or 5 sessions provides the optimum experience (rather than packing your whole day with sessions). Our recommendation is to leave time for lunch, the exhibition and some networking and reflection time.

Please note some sessions will now be full. However, there will eventually be more than 100 sessions to choose from, and you may wish to join a waiting list (people often move from one session to another and leave a space). Where possible we will create a duplicate session and advise people on the waiting list first. We will also aim to move a session to a larger space to accommodate more people if we possibly can.

Please choose up to FOUR sessions in the first instance
Help us to ensure that all delegates get the optimum balance for the day by choosing FOUR sessions only in the first instance.  This will help to manage numbers and waiting lists and enable you to access lunch and the informal aspects of the festival such as lunch, networking, demos and the exhibition. (This is not a strict limit, but a recommendation).

Waiting lists
It is not possible to fully guarantee entry to any specific session, but you will have the option to join a waiting list and you will automatically be added if a place becomes available. If you are on a waiting list, you will also be able to go along on the day to check if there are any spaces after everyone else has entered the room.

Mobile app
You can access the mobile app by searching IFL East in Apple Store or Google Playstore or auto-installing from the schedule page on the website. Please note, THE APP WILL DISPLAY THE SCHEDULE, BUT TO VIEW YOUR PERSONALISED SCHEDULE, YOU WILL NEED TO LOGIN TO YOUR ’SCHED’ ACCOUNT FROM WITHIN THE APP.  The mobile app will update regularly between now and the festival, so keep checking in regularly.

Lunch included
Festival-goers will be given a lunch voucher, courtesy of Norse Group Catering during registration (on the day). Refreshments (such as tea, coffee and a selection of alcoholic beverages will be available from Edmunds outlets at low prices. Water will be freely available from water dispensers.

*Please note that we cannot guarantee fully allergy free food. Please check with food vendors on the day and check the information in your registration form

Managing the flow of people
Capacity is limited for each room due to fire regulations, and we rely on the professionalism of delegates to attend the sessions they sign up for and not attend the sessions they have not signed up for.

Removing yourself from a session
If no longer wish to attend a session, PLEASE ensure that you remove yourself from within your schedule account as there may be other people who could take your place.

A festival rather than a conference
This will have a very different feel from a formal conference, and by providing such a broad range of sessions, we anticipate that if you don’t get into one of your top choices, you will almost certainly find something else of benefit. There are also plenty of networking spaces and the exhibition to browse.

Other refreshments
A range of drinks and snacks (tea, coffee, bar) can be purchased with cash or contactless card on the day.  (Water will be freely available from the water fountains on the first and second floors of the Gateway Building, and in the Bistro).

Bar
The bars will be serving a limited range of alcoholic and soft-drinks. Please bring cash or contactless card to purchase.

Mobile View and Native Mobile App
Once you’ve signed up to ’Sched’ you will be able to view your schedule on your mobile device immediately. Nearer the time, you will also be able to log in to your Schedule via the Native Mobile App which will contain more information such as maps, partners, social media, notifications and more. This will be available on the Android Playstore or the Apple App Store. More information on this will be released soon.

Andrew Hammond has worked in schools for twenty years, as a Headteacher, Deputy Head, Director of Studies, Housemaster, Head of English and class teacher, in both the independent and maintained sectors.

He is Headteacher at Guildhall Feoffment Primary School in Bury St Edmunds. A prolific author, Andrew has written over thirty titles for various educational publishers, including Oxford University Press, Cambridge University Press, Hodder Education, Harcourt, Sage, Galore Park, John Catt Ltd and Rising Stars.

He is a regular contributor to educational magazines, newspapers and blogs. His latest work is the Invisible Curriculum Series published by John Catt Ltd.

Andrew is also an author of fiction; his latest work is a five-book horror fiction series for Headline, entitled CRYPT. Andrew was Lead Author of the Independent Curriculum (Galore Park) and has served in the past as a 13+ Common Entrance Setter for ISEB and as an English Subject Leader for IAPS.

Andrew is a regular keynote speaker at conferences across the UK and abroad, and he frequently delivers CPD training in schools of all shapes and sizes. He holds a BA (Hons) QTS from Bath and an MA in Creativity in Education from King’s College London. He is currently studying for a doctorate (EdD) at the University of Buckingham, in which he is focusing on hidden learning.
